A Christmas celebration in Windermere

Windermere Christmas Celebration
The celebrations continued even as darkness fell

The weeks leading up to Christmas are crammed with festive celebrations across the Lake District, including markets, fairs, Santa boat and train rides, charity events, and Christmas light switch ons in several towns and villages. But so far in 2017, I’ve been so busy with work that I haven’t made it to any of them!

One event I’m really looking forward to though is the Windermere Christmas Celebration, which first took place in 2016, and successfully attracted a huge number of visitors.

Last year the celebration was known as the ‘Windermere Christmas Market’, but apparently there are rules related to markets which mean the term ‘market’ can’t be used this time round.

A Christmas market by any other name will no doubt be just as fun though – there were lots of stalls featuring local products and foods, and the atmosphere was fantastic. And to bring a bit of Christmas cheer to the blog now it’s December, I thought I’d share a few photos with you ahead of the event, from last year!
